Summer of 2021

I am super excited that I will be working at two distinguished organizations making real impact in aviation related engineering research and development as an intern this summer.

My first role will be a at the Maryland Advanced Development Laboratory division of University Research Foundation as a Technical Intern.

My second role is at Center for Air Transportation Systems Research working as a high school summer intern under the supervision of Dr. Lance Sherry, Associate Professor of Systems Engineering and Operations Research and his team at the Volgenau School of Engineering at GMU.

I have to admit that this blog and the digital content that I have produced about engineering and aviation helped me get these positions. So thank you very much for your interest in my blog and the YouTube channel.

I very much look forward to making a meaningful impact in both and learn as much as I can during the process. Please see a little more information about the organizations that I will be working with below:
  • University Research Foundation
The URF is a not-for-profit Research and Development organization established by the University of Maryland in 1981 to conduct a wide range of technical projects requiring expertise in aeronautics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, and microprocessor chip design and development.

URF's Maryland Advanced Development Laboratory division has been a leader in developing advanced avionics concepts for commercial aviation for over a decade. URF employees have been the authors of nearly 200 technical papers and nearly two dozen patents.

The CATSR mission is to foster excellence in education and research in Air Transportation System Engineering. Charted in 2003, the Center is part of the Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University. Among others, its contributions to the field include:

    • transportation network-of-networks simulation, optimization, and analysis
    • complex adaptive systems simulation and analysis
    • NAS, airport, and airspace simulation and performance analysis
    • rare-event safety analysis for systems and devices
    • aviation environment (noise and emissions)
    • strategic planning and forecasting/industrial sector economics
    • auctions and other allocation schemes
    • portfolio analysis/costs-benefits analysis
    • flight deck design and human factors
